How You Impact Which Management Company is Best for You.

Many aircraft owners go to their aviation trusted advisor and say go find me the best management company.  This is a normal reaction, but before a Management Company is selected it is essential to understand how you are going to use your aircraft.

In my white paper on Selecting or Switching Management Companies, I go over this topic in greater detail but here are just a few of the questions that I think it’s imperative to ask yourself before you select an aircraft management company.

  1. Where are you going to be flying?  Just the US? Or Europe & the Caribbean also?   International flying requires different skill sets and late-night support for you and the crew.
  2. Is the airplane “your baby” and you want to be deeply involved in it’s operation, or is this a nice tool that allows you more flexibility and saves you time?  (Some management companies will not allow you to be involved.)
  3. Do you look at the pilots on an aircraft as your pilots?  Are you ok with them flying other aircraft in the management companies’ fleet?   Are you OK with a pool of pilots? (We generally don’t recommend a pilot pool.)

These are just a few of the questions you should be answering yourself when you purchase your aircraft.  After reading them, it becomes apparent why they are so important to articulate before selecting a management company.

There are several other factors that should be considered when selecting and working with a Management Company. In my white paper, Selecting or Switching Management Companies, I bring up even more questions on your intended operation and style that you should consider in this decision.
