Frequently Asked Questions
We help clients make better aviation decisions.
I think I am paying too much for operating my aircraft?
This is probably one of the primary reasons that clients first come to Jet Auditors. We sepcialize in reviewing your aircraft costs and invoices to make sure that you are not being overcharged by your management company. If you operate your own aircraft then we can often find ways of saving you money there as well.
What Is the Best Aviation Solution for Me?
You can not believe how many aircraft clients I have worked with me who came to me with my buddy just bought this airplane and got a great deal…can you buy me that same aircraft? Sure I can but I always asked them are you sure that is the best option for YOU? Maybe and sometimes it is but most people have unique needs and wants…that is why you do not see everyone with the same car…its just that buying the wrong plane or fractional service is a lot more expensive — so its good to make sure. We help you make sure!
How do I pick a management company?
There are many different types of management companies. Local, national and regional. They range from a very small unsophisticated operation to very large operations. Finding he right one depends on your location, your needs, your travel patterns and the aircraft you own. We help you navigate the selection process. We also help you monitor their performance over time.
Do you offer custom reporting?
Yes- custom reporting is available and can be quoted and added to your monthly fee. We can also do ad-hoc analysis if requested.
What if you have a non audit related aviation question?
Ask us! We have the distinct advantage of being an impartial former aircraft manager with a wealth of contacts and experience in the private aviation world. We want to make sure that you are happy with private aviation… If it is going to take a lot of time to research we will tell you before we start getting into billing but if it’s a quick question we can usually get back to you and find the answer rather quickly.
How do you work with management companies?
We work well with management companies. Whether you are a fully managed or a charter managed client we have experience in aircraft management and aircraft brokerage so we know what its like to be on the other side. We also know that it is expensive for a client to change management companies so we try and get our clients a better product from the management company they are with before ever suggesting a change. We are easy to work with and work with all management companies in a friendly and professional manner.
What is the Aircraft Value Monitoring?
Aircraft Value Monitoring is the periodic revue of the value of aircraft similar to yours. This is not an appraisal but trend monitoring for your specific aircraft type so that you are not caught off guard when it comes time to sell your aircraft. Many clients use this on an annual basis as a way to verify they are not paying too much property tax if their aircraft has decreased in value.
Do you communicate with the clients team or directly with the management company?
The answer is it depends on what you want us to do. We can coordinate our invoice questions and clarifications directly with the management company and cc you or just act behind the scenes and suggest questions for you to ask and documents for you to request. We work for you so the management company does not need to know we are even involved if you don’t want them to.
Do you look at the same things every month on your management invoice review service?
No. Our audit program is a 12 month progressive audit program. This is for several reasons. The primary reason is, if we asked all these questions all at once, it would take up a lot of time for both your management company and your internal team. We look at some items every month but our audit schedule is based on a progressive audit.
